Protect Your Mail: How to Safeguard Against Theft

Last month, the United States Postal Service (USPS) issued a warning and here’s the bottom line: don’t put checks in the mailbox. According to the article, mail theft, including both letter carrier robbery and high volume mail theft incidents from blue collection boxes, has dramatically increased.
The USPS recommends the following steps to protect your mail:
- Remove mail from your mailbox promptly every day
- Deliver outgoing mail directly to the post office (inside) or hand it directly to your letter carrier
- Sign up for Informed Delivery to preview your incoming mail
- Join your neighborhood watch and local social media groups to spread awareness
- Promptly report any suspicious activity or theft
